Voutilainen yozakura

Original painting size: 78 x 115 cm

The Voutilainen Yozakura is a unique, handcrafted luxury mechanical watch known for its exquisite dial featuring traditional Japanese Urushi lacquer art and its in-house, highly efficient movement.

The term “Yozakura” translates to “night cherry blossoms,” and the watch’s design captures this elegant visual through the meticulous application of traditional Japanese lacquering techniques by the renowned Kitamura studio.

Key Features and Specifications

  • Dial Artistry: The dial is a unique art piece created by the legendary Japanese lacquer Kitamura studio using the complex and time-consuming Saiei Makie and Somata zaiku techniques, incorporating materials such as gold dust (Kinpun), gold leaf (Jyunkin-itakane), and shells from the great green turban (Yakou-gai) and New Zealand abalone (Awabi-gai).
  • Movement: It features an in-house designed manual-winding mechanical movement with a unique direct impulse escapement system that uses two escapement wheels, making it highly efficient and requiring less energy than traditional lever escapements.
  • Balance Wheel: The movement includes a large, free-sprung balance wheel (13.60 mm diameter) with rose gold timing weights, operating at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz).
  • Power Reserve: The watch has a substantial power reserve of approximately 65 hours.
  • Case: The timepiece comes in a platinum case with a sapphire crystal front and back, both treated with an anti-reflection coating.
  • Exclusivity: The Voutilainen Yozakura is a highly exclusive timepiece, often produced as a unique, one-off example (limited to 1 unique piece).
  • Finishing: Every component, including the German silver main plate and bridges, is designed, manufactured, and meticulously hand-finished and assembled in the Voutilainen workshops.
