The Voutilainen 28 GML SOUYOU is a unique masterpiece that combines Swiss haute horlogerie with the Japanese Urushi lacquer technique of master Tatsuo Kitamura. The watch won the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Artistic Crafts Watch Prize in 2025.

Key features:

• Dial: The mesmerizing dial, created using the rare ‘Saiei Maki-e’ Urushi lacquering technique, required over a thousand hours of meticulous handwork. The design is inspired by the motto, “SOUYOU” (蒼陽), where the blue-green outer edge symbolizes the sea and the gold-red center signifies the sun and creative energy.
• Movement: The watch is powered by the manual-winding in-house Calibre 28GML, which was designed, constructed, and finished entirely in the Voutilainen workshops.
• Technology: It features a highly efficient direct-impulse double-wheel escapement and a large balance wheel with a Phillips overcoil and Grossmann internal curve balance spring for improved precision and stability.
• Functions: In addition to hours and minutes, the watch has a central second time zone indication via a 24-hour rotating disc, which can be adjusted via the crown.
• Specifications: The case has a diameter of 39 mm and a thickness of 11.2 mm, with a power reserve of 65 hours and a frequency of 18,000 v.p.h. (vibrations per hour).
