Jacob&co Bugatti chiron design in frame
Original painting size: 78 x 115 cm
The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon watch is an exquisite piece of horology featuring a functional miniature W16 engine automaton, designed to mirror the engineering and aesthetic of the Bugatti Chiron hypercar. The design is a seamless integration of automotive and watchmaking elements.
Watch Design Elements
- Miniature W16 Engine Automaton: The centerpiece is a working replica of the Bugatti W16 engine, visible through a large sapphire crystal panel. When activated by a pusher, a crankshaft turns and 16 pistons pump up and down, mimicking the engine firing sequence for 15-20 seconds.
- Case Shape and Materials: The sleek, tonneau-shaped case (typically 54mm x 44mm) is inspired by the aerodynamic lines and muscular bodywork of the Chiron hypercar. It is available in various materials including titanium, rose gold, and even a full sapphire crystal case, offering a 360-degree view of the intricate movement.
- Automotive-Inspired Details: Specific car design cues are integrated throughout the watch:
- The power reserve indicator is shaped like a fuel gauge.
- The tourbillon carriage resembles a radiator.
- The overall structure of the movement mimics exhaust pipes.
- The crowns are located on the 6 o’clock flank, away from the side to maintain the sleek look, and the winding crown features the “EB” logo.
- The movement is suspended within the case in four places using a special transverse system with shock absorbers, a nod to the car’s suspension system.
- The dial features design elements such as the signature horseshoe Bugatti grille.
